    Jazzmobile, Inc. is a public, not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) arts and educational institution founded in 1964 by Dr. Billy Taylor. As the pioneer organization designed for the preservation and propagation of Jazz, "America's Classical Music", it is committed to creative expression through all forms of the arts. Jazzmobile is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors whose Chairman is Dr. George Butler, former Senior Vice President/Executive Producer at Sony Music/Columbia Records.

    Jazzmobile provides arts education program of the highest quality via workshops, master classes, lecture demonstrations, arts enrichment programs, outdoor summer mobile concerts, special indoor concerts and special projects.

    Miss Sarah Vaughn Over the years, Jazzmobile has reached national and international audiences: 1977 Winnipeg Art Gallery Program; 1980 Winter Olympics Lake Placid, NY: 1980 Semi-National 10 city tour; 1980 two week European tour of Holland, Belgium and France; 1985 Silver Bridge Concert celebrating Sister Cities New York and Tokyo - Lincoln Center 1983; three week European tour of London, Paris, Lyon, Brussels, Madrid and Milan; 1986 five week tour of Australia, Japan the Philippines and Canada.


    azzmobile has received numerous awards and special citations including Conspicuous Service Award - New York State Council on the Arts - 1967; Encore Awards - New York City Arts and Business Council - 1973 & 1981: Primary Arts Organization Designation - New York City Council on the Arts - 1974; New York City Service Award - Mayor Koch 1978; The Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting Production - 1981; Mayor's Very Special Arts Award - Mayor Dinkins 1991, for Jazzmobile's quality arts programs for all New Yorkers, particularly persons with disabilities or those at risk.

    Jazzmobile serves approximately quarter of million people in New York City and outlying areas throughout the year.
