Jazzmobile Inc. will be celebrating our 40th anniversary
with live special events from July 7, 2003 to August 31, 2004.


Jazzmobile has been honoring living Jazz greats in concert, producing
Jazz concerts as special events and premiering new compositions and
talents through the Semi-Annual Major Concert Hall Series ever since
1969. Jazz greats who have been honored include; Milt Jackson, Sarah
Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, and the Modern Jazz Quartet.
Jazzmobile is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, the
New York State Council on the Arts and corporate sponsors.
Since 1964, Jazzmobile has been presenting Free Outdoor Summer
Mobile Concerts. As the pioneer mobile music organization, Jazzmobile
has brought great Jazz Artists directly to the public. Since 1968,
Jazzmobile has produced a series of free lectures in public schools
where skilled musicians/instructors lecture, demonstrate and educate
about the history of Jazz interactively. Beginning in 1969, Jazzmobile
has instituted Free Saturday Jazz Workshops that is nationally known
and respected. Lastly, starting in 1976, Jazzmobile has been
implementing an Arts Education Enrichment Program as an alternative
education art program interactively utilizing music, drama, poetry,
and visual arts with a master/apprentice approach.

During the months of July and August, utilizing a mobile bandstand,
Jazzmobile presents over 50 concerts reaching an audience of over
150,000. Concerts are conducted each weekday evening, Monday through
Friday, employing approximately 600 top jazz artists (i.e., Frank Wess,
Irene Reid, Donald Byrd, Jimmy Heath, Roy Hargrove, Winard Harper,
Antonio Hart, Vanessa Rubin, Randy Weston), to cite a few.
